HousingWhere you live

A Furnished Home, 15 Minutes from the Flight Line

AIAA housing is open to every cadet who needs it. International cadets are housed with us as standard, and domestic cadets — local or out-of-state — can request the same arrangement. You’ll live in one of two apartment communities a short bus ride from Sacramento Executive Airport: Broadleaf Apartments or Ashford Park Apartments. Both offer two-bedroom homes, with a room to yourself or shared. We handle the lease, the utilities and the setup — you arrive and collect the keys.

A Day at AIAAThe training day

Every Flight Starts with a Plan and Ends with a Debrief

You start the day knowing your lesson plan, with the weather already briefed and checked, so you walk into school ready to fly. You and your instructor sit down, confirm the plan, then walk to the aircraft and complete the pre-flight together. If the assigned aircraft isn’t right on the day, you switch — the fleet is large enough that waiting is rare. You fly for one to two hours, then come back for a structured debrief on what went well and what needs work, with written notes you keep so nothing is lost. Before you leave, you know exactly what the next lesson asks of you.

  1. Know the plan
  2. Brief & pre-flight
  3. Fly 1–2 hrs
  4. Debrief
  5. Prep the next lesson

Training is intense, so life around it is built to recharge you

Life in SacramentoThe city that lets you fly

A Valley Made for Flying, and a City That’s Easy to Call Home

Sacramento sits in a valley with more than 320 flyable days a year, which means fewer cancelled lessons and steadier progress. As California’s state capital, it is a welcoming, multicultural city with a long history, and it’s easy to settle into whether you come from California, another state or further afield.

Train hard during the week. At the weekend, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, the redwoods and the Sierra are all within reach, with Yosemite and Sequoia for longer breaks.

Life in ModestoThe valley, at an easier pace

Open Skies and a Small-City Pace, with Yosemite Close By

AIAA runs the same flight training in Modesto as in Sacramento — same syllabus, same standards — at a smaller base. Fewer cadets means more time with your instructor and a tighter-knit group around you. Modesto is also a regular cross-country destination for our Sacramento cadets, so many of you will fly in long before you ever drive there. The city itself moves at an easier pace, with less traffic and a lower cost of living, and it is one of the closest cities to Yosemite
